So it will come as no surprise to learn that Marbella is all set to roll out the red carpet for more than 100 international filmmakers, producers, and actors at the 2015 Marbella Film Festival. The festival is essentially a marketplace for independent artists and will take place in Marbella from the 7th October to 11th October 2015. The festival will screen more than 100 entries in the categories of shorts, animations, features and documentaries.
History of Marbella Film Festival
Marbella Film Festival is an annual event that is arranged by New World Trust, a non-profit organisation. The event is staged to provide a platform to independent filmmakers from all over the world to showcase their talent to the movers and shakers of the global filmmaking industry. The much anticipated international festival has been a fixture in Marbella’s calendar since 2006.
Highlights of the Event
The complete line up and screening schedule for this year’s event has just been announced online by the organisers. However, some trademark events of the film festival a cocktail party, Flower Power party, a 24-hour film challenge, the Art at the Fringe program, and a gala dinner awards ceremony on the last night.
24-Hours Film Challenge – This contest invites film makers from all over the world to make and submit a short film in just 24 hours. The best film will then be awarded with the Marbella Film Festival 24-Hour Film Challenge award. Participants can submit their entries online as well. Art at the Fringe – An exhibition is held every year at the event where international artists showcase their artwork, including modern architecture, photographs, sculptures, jewelry, fashion, and performance arts.
The Award Ceremony – More than 800 entries were received by the organisers this year, of which 100 finalists will screen their work at the 2015 Marbella Film Festival. Prizes will be awarded in the following four categories:
- Best Documentary
- Best Short
- Best Animation
- Best Feature Film
In addition to this, contemporary international art, including painting, sculptures, and photographs, will be exhibited throughout the 5-day event.
