Mijas Costa is a stretch of coastline that connects central Marbella to its bustling neighbour, Fuengirola. It perfectly blends the key characteristics of both, offering elegance and activity in abundance. Towards the west, a few minutes away a beautiful, quaint commercial area that concentrates a beautiful sea front promenade with bars, restaurants an iconic street market and an ancient arab whatch tower. To the east , minutes away is the Sohail Castle, imposing and elevated over the beach with its hundreds of years of history to be admired. A little bit further is th city of Fuengirola, with two world class shopping malls (CC Miramar & El Corte Ingles). Its extensive promenade and great beaches, an important port, and its train station that connects easily with Málaga and its international airport and the High Speed Train to Madrid, Córdoba, Seville and Barcelona.
LOCATION
Mijas Costa includes, among other areas, El Faro, La Cala de Mijas, Riviera del Sol and Calahonda but basically the swathe of land between Fuengirola and Marbella is pretty much Mijas Costa. As a result of the international presence in the area, Spanish influences are somewhat diluted, but still noticeable, particularly in the new-build architecture. After all, a mock-Tudor mansion would look distinctly out of place on the Costa del Sol, so most private villas and large apartment complexes have stuck true to their Andalucian origins.
