The route from Malaga to Marbella travels through Miraflores, Calahonda and Riviera del Sol, which although technically fall within boundaries of Mijas they are often referred to as being in Marbella East. Either way, they are a perennial favourite amongst international purchasers, particularly Scandinavians. Marbella East officially starts at Cabopino, taking in the upmarket enclave of Elviria, home to Nikki Beach and the Don Carlos Hotel, and also the residential areas of Las Chapas and El Rosario. Marbella town is not many minutes away, infact just a few minutes’ drive from Marbella’s town centre, La Cañada commercial centre and only 25 minutes from Malaga airport. The area is well served by state, private and international schools, shops and restaurants including El Lago on Greenlife golf in Elviria, which was awarded a Michelin star in 2005.
